The answer is in the number of people needing care.
Year US POPULATION OVER 65 years OVER 85 years
2000 35 million 4 million
2050 78 million 31.2 million
As the population of older adults continues to rise rapidly, the number of expert geriatric professionals is on the decline. The Arizona Geriatrics Society (AzGS) works to ensure the best of care for older Arizonans.
To meet healthcare needs today and in the future, the AzGS is dedicated to the development of professionals in geriatrics and gerontology who are committed to employing best practices in healthcare for older adults.
Membership is open to all who care for older adults, including physicians (geriatricians and primary care physicians as well as surgical and medical specialists), nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dentists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, case managers, long term care and assisted living facility administrators, occupational and speech therapists, and any other allied professionals providing care to older adults in Arizona.
Now is the time to share your knowledge and expertise with this growing and dynamic professional association.
